How to Fuel While Taking GLP-1

I get asked all the time how I feel about GLP-1 medications, and this is my honest opinion: I don't hate them. I think that they are game changers and lifesavers for so many people. The tricky thing is, how do you meet your nutrient goals when you are on these medications?

The weight loss comes easy because you have a natural calorie deficit, but do you always eat the right foods? It's kind of hard to make sure you're eating the right foods when you can lose weight while eating pizza, cake, candy, all the things that you love -- because you're eating them in smaller quantities. When you focus on the things that are going to keep you healthy long term, like keep your hair strong, your skin looking great, keep your muscle tone and metabolism up, immunity boosted, and a healthy microbiome, these are all really important things that no one thinks about (because they're getting the results they want)! But what's happening on the inside?

That's where working with a professional registered dietitian or a healthcare provider comes into play, because we're looking at the long game. Don't go at it alone because guess what? You could be getting these great results, but the inside may not be as great at the outside.
