Many of my clients are complaining about feeling bloated or not wanting to feel bloated. It’s a popular conversation, so let’s get to it!
For fruits, we want high fiber and high water. So, I recommend melons, berries, and (since it’s a fruit) avocados. They’re super high in potassium and help to flush out excess water. Along with that is sweet potato, which is a vegetable, but also really high in potassium. So if you’re looking for something to fill you up and is a little more starchy, sweet potato is an excellent option.
When it comes to vegetables, if you’re trying to have a “flat belly” day, avoid our favorite cruciferous vegetables, like cauliflower, broccoli, kale, & Brussels sprouts, because those can cause some gassy bloating. Instead, lean into leafy greens. Leafy greens digest really easily and dandelion greens are great for de-bloating and liver support, which many people can benefit from at this time of the year.
Proteins are great because they keep you full and they don’t cause any bloating. I usually recommended that my clients have about 21-30 grams per meal, usually eggs, or Greek yogurt.
