Spring Detox With Us!

Spring means it’s time to shed layers of clothing and leave winter-y behaviors behind – like comfort food.  This may cause you to crave a seasonal cleanse but this year instead of extreme cleansing and dieting, try out our go-to routine for a spring “detox” that works and feels good.  PS.  Detox headaches are fake, that’s just blood sugar crashes and calorie deprivation.  Wouldn’t it be great to detox and have energy?

To kick start your season we’re linking to three of our favorite Spring smoothies full of digestion-promoting, detox-inducing, hydrating, and debloating ingredients that will certainly kick start your day and have you feeling AWESOME! But if that’s not enough, keep reading for all-day tips to keep you feeling….fresh!

Eat ALLL the fresh foods: Spring means more fresh fruits and vegetables. Increase your fiber, water, and antioxidant intake by filling half of your plate with non-starchy veggies and adding fruit to your breakfast and snacks!  Seasonal favorites include: Snap peas, fennel, pea shoots, asparagus, artichoke, and radishes! Don’t forget to add lean protein and lots of omega-3 fatty acids to promote healthy/hydrated skin, decrease inflammation and balance blood sugar.

Stop Fearing Fat: Healthy fats like avocado, nuts, and olive oil are your best friends when it comes to feeling satisfied from your meals. They keep you full, add flavor and texture, and transport nutrients to your cells!  To promote skin health make sure to add in omega 3s including flax, chia, hemp, and salmon. 1 – 2 TBSP per meal should do.

Meet Water Goals: Hydration is our motto! 60% of your body is made up of water, and with increasing temperatures, it is even more important to keep up with your fluids.  Water helps bloating, weight management, metabolism, detoxification, and energy while protecting your muscles, ligaments, and joints so if you plan to move more in warmer months drink up!  Try some of our fav electrolyte powders (ultima and cure) for optimal hydration and de-bloating potions like dandelion root tincture or Juna which decrease water retention and support liver function too.

Get Outdoors and Move: The sunshine that spring brings is a luxury supplying warmth, vitamin D, and happiness.  One of our favorite ways to enjoy the weather and simultaneously gain health benefits is to get moving….outdoors. Research shows it truly affects your mood, energy, and focus.  Go for a walk or run along your favorite routes, hop on a bike, strap on some rollerblades, you get the idea. Moving your body increases oxygen to your cells, removes excess fluids from your body, and promotes digestion and carbohydrate metabolism too.

We know this doesn’t sound extreme but news flash, this works. Detoxing doesn’t have to be hard, it just needs to be real.  Real food.  Real life.  Real solutions.
