As a registered dietitian living and working in New York City, I can tell you that I’m well-versed in helping my clients strategize on what to eat when they’re on the run.
My first tip: be prepared. Never leave the house or office without something stashed in your bag/backpack/briefcase.
While I’m all about whole foods, there are some foods that travel better than others, and those are often packaged foods that don’t have an expiration date. Yes, they will be minimally processed, but the ones that I recommend have clean ingredients and taste great. Some options include: packaged nuts, jerky, healthy bars, protein shakes, string cheese, and fruit!
When you’re unprepared, you probably would have to run into a meeting starving, and eat whatever they have to serve, or into a corner deli and grab something that you didn’t really want (and might have inflammatory oils, added sugars, etc.) and things that just aren’t helping you meet your goals.
