Our Top 5 Food and Wellness Trends for 2024

As part of my process of wrapping up 2023, I spend some time looking ahead to the fresh beginning of a new year before it actually starts. This is an exciting time when I plan my personal and professional goals and also fine-tune my knowledge so I can share new and exciting information with my clients. One of the things I love digging into are the 2024 predicted food and wellness trends. Want to be a trendsetter? Keep reading so you know what to look out for!

Plant-based, whole foods: Say goodbye to all the plant-based “meat” that filled grocery aisles the past few years that contained long ingredient lists that we’d never heard of before. We are seeing plants, yes actual plants making their way back into plant-based products including veggies, soy, beans, lentils, nuts, and seeds. Yes and YUM!

Buckwheat: This superfood seed, rich in fiber and minerals (hello magnesium!), will be the new addition to your list of gluten-free options in 2024. It’s rich in powerful antioxidants including rutin and quercetin which fight cancer and inflammation. From buckwheat flour to buckwheat noodles and buckwheat crackers add it to your diet as you see fit. Bonus: It’s an environmentally sustainable crop LOVE THAT!

Complex heat: Spicy foods boost metabolism and add flavor without excess calories!  A variety of pepper choices–fresh, whole, ground, pickled, and many more–will be popping up everywhere from snacks to sauces to beverages and in many awesome collabs with our favorite brands!

Better boost: Goodbye energy drinks, hello better-for-you caffeinated choices. While we love a hot cup of coffee, and RTD caffeinated beverages have been trending, they can spill, are temperature dependent and many contain ingredients that are questionable for your health.  That’s why we love the convenience of caffeine in an energy bar (we see you Quantum Energy Square!) along with protein, fiber, and healthy fats to allow for a more even energy boost at safer doses (100 mg/bar). Portability, convenience, and clean ingredients are perfect for your next outdoor adventure or back-to-back meetings.

Little luxuries: At Real Nutrition, we treasure occasional small indulgences and preach portion control regularly. In fact, enjoying daily, weekly, or monthly treats, can help prevent overconsumption from deprivation in the long run!  That is why we are excited about the variety of individually packaged, high-quality, clean ingredient treats coming your way in 2024.

We hope you are as excited as we are for these exciting new trends.  New products keep healthy eating fun.  Don’t forget to share with us your new favorites!
