As a Registered Dietitian, let me break it down for you. When you are looking for extreme results, there is no balance. 50/50 (healthy/”unhealthy”) will keep you at maintenance. If you want to see change, 80/20 is really the way to go. Most people who are showing you a “What I Eat in a Day” are showing you a perfect day. They probably aren’t eating exactly that or all of that. And yes, people who are showing up on social media and look incredible have probably dedicated many years of their life to this lifestyle, so it’s not as challenging. What’s absolutely false is that if you have nutrition goals, you have to go it alone. The people in your life who care about you, care about your goals and should support you! Secluding yourself so you can meet your diet goals is not okay–for long-term results, you need something that’s sustainable.
